Sunflowers are safe for homes with pets as long as animals do not try to chew them. If ingested, mild stomach reactions may occur, but while standing in a vase they pose no threat.
After purchase, trim the stem by 1–2 cm and place the sunflower in a clean vase with cool water. Change the water every 1–2 days and regularly refresh the cut so the thick stem can absorb water better. Keep the flower away from direct sunlight, heaters, drafts, and fruit — in a cool place the sunflower keeps its freshness and bright color longer. 🌻
