It is considered a safe plant; even if a pet accidentally chews on a stem or inflorescence, at most a mild stomach discomfort may occur — similar to eating any greenery.
Before placing astilbe in a vase, refresh the cut by trimming 1–2 cm and remove any leaves that would sit in the water. Fill the vase with cool, clean water and change it daily. Keep the bouquet away from direct sunlight and heat — in cooler conditions, astilbe retains its fluffiness and freshness longer.
